Swimming hippo
Title: Swimming hippo
Location: CHOBE RIVER, BOTSWANA
Hippos are the third largest animal in Africa and the most dangerous. They look quite cute and sluggish but, in reality, they can be very aggressive and unpredictable and kill more people each year than any other animal. They are also very fast over short distances, up to 48kph (30mph), much faster than a person!
I was in a large boat (I’m happy to say) when I took this photograph of a large hippo swimming towards us to check us out. Hippos don’t swim but bounce along the riverbed when in water.
