Sleeping gorilla
Sleeping gorilla
Title: Sleeping gorilla
Location: Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, Uganda
Photographer: Graham Elliott
We reached these gorillas in the late morning, after a three-hour hike to find them. Visiting Uganda in the rainy season is the best time to see the gorillas as they spend more time on the ground eating bamboo shoots. Of course, this means walking long distances through (at times) thick vegetation which can be wet and muddy.
The fact that these gorillas can still be seen is due, in no small way, to the efforts of Dian Fossey in the 70’s and 80’s. Unfortunately, she was murdered in Rwanda before she had completed her work, but she had done enough to raise awareness about these animals and begin the work to preserve them.
This limited edition fine art print comes with a certificate of authenticity with hologram, photographer’s signature and edition number in series. These prints will not be offered for sale again once the current editions sell out.
