Portrait of a black rhino
Portrait of a black rhino
Title: Portrait of a black rhino
Location: Etosha National Park, Namibia
Photographer: Graham Elliott
Black rhinos are the least threatened of the two rhino species in Africa, but they remain critically endangered. They are the smaller of the two species and can be identified by their ‘hooked’ upper lip. The white rhino has a square lip. Black rhinos are browsers rather than grazers and do not feed on vegetation on the ground. They prefer to eat the leaves from bushes.
Between 1960 and 1995, black rhino numbers are thought to have dropped by 98%. This was mainly due to hunting and loss of habitat due to the actions of settlers. Since then, through conservation efforts, their numbers have recovered. It is estimated that there are now 6,000 in the wild. However, they remain under threat due to poaching.
This limited edition fine art print comes with a certificate of authenticity with hologram, photographer’s signature and edition number in series. These prints will not be offered for sale again once the current editions sell out.
