Caption: This young elephant was with a matriarchal group feeding along the side of a dried river in Namibia. You can see dried mud on its skin and this is used to protect the skin from parasites and to prevent sunburn.
This elephant belongs to a small group of African desert elephants, one of only two populations remaining in the world.
