Kanha is a conservation success story and the number of Bengal Tigers in the reserve is slowly increasing. This is in large part down to the park employing the local people in various capacities and this, in turn, has given a sense of ownership to the local people. This reduces poaching, the biggest threat to tigers in the park.
This pair are half of a group of four we saw walking along the edge of the forest. They were quite a long way off and these shots were taken with my faithful zoom lens at 400mm. They were slowly walking along the edge of the forest and stopped occasionally to sniff the air. After twenty minutes or so, they vanished into the forest.
