Location: Chobe River, Botswana
Several hippos were in the water and would stay submerged for a few minutes at a time. It was difficult for us to know exactly how many were around as hippos can be very dangerous. They are aggressive and unpredictable and are probably the most dangerous animal you will come across on an African safari.
We sat with them for several minutes and it was very peaceful. That is until we realised we were slowly being surrounded! At that point, we decided to leave and move upriver.
