This hippo was grazing in the Lake Mburo National Park. I only had a few hours here as we made an overnight stop here en route from Entebbe to Kisoro; our jumping-off point for seeing mountain gorillas.
Hippos are the third largest animals in the world (after elephants and rhinos). They are also very aggressive and unpredictable. This makes them the most dangerous animal you’re likely to come across if you visit Africa.
This particular hippo was happily grazing alone in the late afternoon sun.
