Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is well-named and we often had to cut our way through the dense vegetation to get close to the gorillas. They preferred to stay in the trees and the few that came down would usually move on once I had found a place to take photographs of them.
This gorilla was looking straight at me and making eye contact with a gorilla is not a good idea. I was looking at it through my camera lens and I didn’t know if that would be perceived as threatening behaviour. So, all of my photographs like this were quickly taken!
